Where Do Ukrainian Refugees Abroad Learn About Events in Ukraine – Survey

69.3% of Ukrainians in Poland learn about events in Ukraine through messaging apps and social media – Telegram, Viber, Facebook, TikTok. 21.8% say they receive news from relatives or acquaintances in Ukraine. 6.7% of refugees seek up-to-date information from well-known Ukrainian online publications. Only 1.43% of respondents follow events in Ukraine through Polish media. And just 0.9% of those surveyed watch Ukrainian television while in Poland.

"Immediately after the recent large-scale missile strike on Ukrainian cities, we asked the Ukrainians employed through us about their sources of news from home. Fear for loved ones and relatives left under the threat of missiles naturally accelerates the search for information and makes people more selective about their media sources. It is precisely this need for speed that puts social networks in the lead on this issue" – says Anna Dzhobold, Head of the Recruitment Department at Gremi Personal.

The agency also highlights several noteworthy observations:

1. The unified news telethon serves as an information source exclusively for Ukrainians on Ukrainian territory.

2. Polish media hold virtually no interest for the vast majority of Ukrainians. This indicates that Ukrainian citizens remain within the Ukrainian information sphere despite having physically been outside its borders for an extended period of time.
