Where to buy train tickets to Poland in 2026
Ukrzaliznytsia remains the most convenient option for travelling from Ukraine to Poland and back. You can easily end up waiting for several hours on a bus at the border — which is particularly unpleasant when the weather is poor. Crossing the border and going through customs on a train, however, is a much more relaxed process.
At the same time, buying tickets for international journeys on the first attempt can be tricky. There are specific rules, and it’s best to know them in advance. Where to buy, when sales open, and which routes are currently running — we cover all this below.
Where to buy a train ticket to Poland online
There are currently three official ways to purchase tickets online.
- On the official Ukrzaliznytsia website — booking.uz.gov.ua
Tickets for the vast majority of international services are sold here — in particular, for popular routes to Przemyśl and Chełm. In 2024, an updated version was also launched — booking-new.uz.gov.ua — with expanded functionality and login via Diya.Sign.
- On the Ukrzaliznytsia mobile app — app.uz.gov.ua/start
This is the only place where you can buy tickets for the most popular route — train 67/68 Kyiv–Warsaw. To do this, you need to verify your account in the app via Diya.Sign or Bank.ID. The bonus of this registration is that you can return an international ticket in just a few clicks.
Demand for train 67/68 Kyiv–Warsaw consistently outstrips supply, so Ukrzaliznytsia is forced to restrict sales to prevent resale.
- Via the official Telegram chatbot — @Ukrzaliznytsie_Tickets_Bot
A convenient option for those used to messaging apps. It allows you to book tickets not only to Poland but also to other destinations.
When tickets go on sale
This is the most important question, as it is precisely because of the rush that passengers often miss out.
Tickets for international trains go on sale exactly 20 days before departure. The time depends on the route:
at 09:00 — tickets for train 67/68 Kyiv – Warsaw go on sale in the mobile app.
at 08:00 — tickets for all other international services go on sale across all platforms.
Current routes to Poland — June 2026

- Kyiv – Chełm No. 19/20, 23/24
- Kyiv – Warsaw No. 67/68 (via the app only)

Check the current timetable and exact departure dates at booking.uz.gov.ua or in the app, as schedules are subject to change.
Practical tips
- Act as soon as tickets go on sale.
This is usually within the first 1–3 minutes after 8 or 9 am. To avoid wasting time entering details at the time of purchase, save the passengers’ full names and payment card details in the app in advance.
- If you don’t manage to pay in time, the ticket goes back into the system.
You have exactly 15 minutes to pay after booking. If the time runs out, the seat goes back on general sale. This means that around 8.15–8.20 am and 9.15–9.20 am, there’s a decent chance of snapping up these ‘returned’ tickets.
- Not all tickets go on sale at the same time.
Some seats are released not at 8:00, but a little later — 30–50 minutes later. This is due to the allocation of quotas across departure stations.
- If you couldn’t buy one straight away — there are still options.
Don’t be disheartened. Returned tickets go on sale two days before departure — roughly between 10:00 and 10:20. If a ticket was returned less than a day ago, it appears approximately 30 minutes after being returned. If the journey is urgent, it’s worth checking for availability from time to time.
- One or two tickets are easier to book than three or four.
The limit is four tickets at a time, but the system does handle smaller orders better. If you’re travelling in a group, it’s sometimes wiser to book one at a time.
- No tickets from your city? Try searching from Lviv.
Life hack: if there’s no suitable journey from Kyiv, Kharkiv or Zaporizhzhia, try searching from Lviv. There’s a change involved, but it’s often more convenient and cheaper than a bus.
- Abroad, the app is better than the website.
If you’re already in Poland or another country — the Ukrzaliznytsia website might not load. The app is more reliable in this situation. A VPN will help if needed.
