Which Cities in Poland Have the Most Expensive Rental Prices?

Several Polish cities have made it onto the ranking of European cities with the most expensive rental housing. This is according to the Property Index 2023 study conducted by audit and consulting firm Deloitte. It turned out that renting an apartment in Warsaw costs more than in many other European capitals.

Warsaw confirms its status as an expensive capital

In the ranking of cities with the highest residential rental rates, the Polish capital placed 21st. The average rent for an apartment in Warsaw is €15.2 per square metre (65.5 PLN). Among European capitals, apartments can be rented more cheaply, including: ⇒ in Prague (Czech Republic) – €14.4 per m²; ⇒ in Brussels (Belgium) – €14 per m²; ⇒ in Lisbon (Portugal) – €13.7 per m²; ⇒ in Rome or Milan (Italy) – €13.3 per m²; ⇒ in Vienna (Austria) – €9.1 per m².

Wrocław, Gdańsk and Kraków are more expensive than Bratislava

Renting in Wrocław, Gdańsk and Kraków is also not cheap – on average, tenants pay more in these cities than in Bratislava (Slovakia), Ljubljana (Slovenia), Manchester (United Kingdom), Porto (Portugal), Athens (Greece), Budapest (Hungary) and Riga (Latvia). In Wrocław, the average monthly rent per m² stands at €13.2 (56.86 PLN). The city in western Poland ranked 29th in the Deloitte ranking.

Interesting figures from other Polish cities: ⇒ Gdańsk – €12.6 per m²; ⇒ Kraków – €12.2 per m²; ⇒ Łódź – €11.3 per m²; ⇒ Poznań – €10.5 per m²; ⇒ Katowice – €8.5 per m². It is worth noting that prices rose the most over the year in central voivodeships – by 32.4% in Łódź and 30.6% in Warsaw – as well as in the northern part of the country, in Gdańsk, by 27.8%.
