112 — the main emergency number in Poland and across Europe
112 is the single number to call in any emergency: road accidents, fires, life-threatening situations, sudden illness, crime.
- It operates 24 hours a day and is free of charge;
- You can call from any phone, even without a SIM card;
- Operators answer in Polish and English;
- You will be put through to the relevant department immediately.
False alarms may result in a fine (up to 1,500 zlotys) or even arrest.
Alarm112 — an app for calling the emergency services
This app will be useful if:
- you have limited proficiency in Polish or English;
- you have a hearing impairment;
- you find it easier to describe the situation via the menu than by speaking.
You can use the app to call:
- the police;
- an ambulance;
- the fire brigade;
