Ukrainians Lead in the Number of Residence Permits Granted in the EU: Who Issued the Most

In 2020, Ukrainian citizens were issued 601,200 first-time residence permits in the EU, making them the largest national group among all recipients. This is reported by the analytics center of the international employment agency Gremi Personal, citing Eurostat data.

Employment was the primary reason Ukrainians obtained permits (86% of all first-time residence permits). Poland topped the list of European countries that issued the most permits to Ukrainians — predominantly for work purposes: 81% (488,900 permits).
