Ukraine vs Poland. How Salaries Differ — From Software Developer to Housekeeper

The analytics centre of an international employment agency has compared average monthly salaries in Ukraine and Poland across the most in-demand occupations, taking into account employer requirements. A wide range of job openings was analysed — from positions with the highest qualification requirements to those with minimal ones.

Data on average salaries in Ukraine were compiled based on the monthly rankings of the employment portal Work.ua and the data of the international employment agency Gremi Personal.

"The gap in earnings between the two countries is now felt especially acutely, partly because Ukrainian wages have lost 35.7% of their value in foreign-currency terms. A drop in real currency income of more than one third is prompting Ukrainian women to decide to go and work in Poland and support their families back home through remittances. We also forecast salary growth in the Polish labour market this autumn. This is driven by several factors: first, a shortage of male workers from Ukraine on the Polish market due to the ban on their departure abroad; and second, the need to create additional financial incentives — namely, wage increases by Polish businesses — in order to quickly fill urgent staffing needs in manufacturing" — says Anna Dzhabolda, Director of the Recruitment Department at the international employment agency Gremi Personal.

"Compared with 2021, demand for the agency's vacancies from Polish nationals has increased by 9% — even for positions that were traditionally filled by workers from Ukraine. There are several reasons: the higher cost of living in Poland, high inflation, and rising mortgage rates" — emphasises Tomasz Bogdevich, CEO of Gremi Personal.
