Three Shopping Sundays in a Row in Poland! The Dates Are Already Set
In December 2025, stores will be open — on 7, 14, and 21 December. Niedziela handlowa is great news for everyone who enjoys holiday shopping without the rush.
How Stores Normally Operate in Poland
Since 2018, Poland has had a Sunday trading ban, introduced to give employees more rest time.
On most Sundays, shopping centres and supermarkets are closed, and only the following remain open:
- petrol stations;
- pharmacies;
- cafés and bakeries;
- small convenience stores
Why There Are Three Shopping Sundays This Year
From 2025, Christmas Eve (24 December) has become an official public holiday.
Stores will not be open that day, even in reduced hours.
To give people enough time to buy gifts and prepare for the holidays, the government decided to add one extra shopping Sunday.
At the same time, the government took care of retail workers — each employee may work on no more than two Sundays, in order to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
Possible Changes to the Law
Poland is once again discussing the possibility of reintroducing trading on two Sundays per month.
Among the proposals put forward for retail employees:
- Double pay for working on Sundays;
- An additional day off within six days of a worked Sunday.
