The analytics center of the international employment agency Gremi Personal, which specializes in placing Ukrainians in jobs in Poland, compared the cost of holiday dishes in Ukraine and Poland.

This year's New Year's table will cost an average of 2,476 hryvnias in Ukraine and 2,422 hryvnias in Poland. The calculation was based on a comparison of ingredient prices for a standard Ukrainian holiday menu: Olivier salad, herring under a fur coat, canapés with caviar and sprats, meat dishes, vegetables, fruits, and sparkling wine.

Preparing Olivier salad in Poland will cost Ukrainians 260 hryvnias, while in Ukraine it comes to 440 hryvnias. Herring under a fur coat costs 174 hryvnias in Ukraine, while the same dish can be prepared in Poland for 308 hryvnias. A kilogram of pork and a kilogram of chicken in Ukraine costs 308 hryvnias, and in Poland – 370 hryvnias.

A cold-cut platter for this New Year will cost 500 hryvnias in Ukraine: prices were analyzed for 300 grams of roasted pork, smoked sausage, hard cheese, and olives; in Poland the same comes to 465 hryvnias. Canapés with sprats and caviar cost approximately 445 hryvnias in Ukraine and 465 hryvnias in Poland.

Half a kilogram of tomatoes and cucumbers costs 139 hryvnias in Ukraine and 84 hryvnias in Poland. A kilogram of tangerines and bananas in Ukraine costs around 130 hryvnias, and in Poland – 126 hryvnias.

A bottle of popular sparkling water costs 40 hryvnias here and 50 hryvnias in Poland. The minimum price for a bottle of regular sparkling wine and a bottle of vodka in Ukraine is 300 hryvnias, and in Poland – 420 hryvnias.

"Millions of Ukrainian citizens are now celebrating New Year in Poland. While some Ukrainians are motivated by safety concerns, others are driven by the wage levels offered by Polish employers. 50% of Ukrainians we have placed in jobs say that

they send food parcels to their families in Ukraine for the holidays" — says Anna Dżobołda, Director of the international employment agency Gremi Personal.

The company notes that in previous years they had not seen such a volume of food parcels being sent to Ukraine. Despite the fact that food prices in Poland have also risen significantly, the level of wages allows people to avoid economic hardship and even support their relatives back home.

"Ukrainians are strong in spirit, remarkably resourceful, and resilient people. While soldiers defend the borders on the battlefield, ordinary people find a solution by earning money in Poland and supporting their loved ones who remained in Ukraine" — adds Anna Dżobołda.
