Being in Poland before Christmas and not visiting a Christmas market is an unforgivable mistake. If you find yourself in one of Poland's cities in December — or live there permanently — make sure to visit a market to soak up the festive atmosphere, taste traditional Christmas treats, and take part in themed events.
Where and when will Christmas markets take place in Poland in 2024-2025? Here's everything you need to know.
Dates: opened 23 November 2024, runs until 6 January 2025 Location: Międzymurze, near Castle Square Spiced mulled wine, sweet treats, entertainment, and original crafts at festive stalls — Warsaw's market has something for everyone. Worth noting: the ice rink in Warsaw will be operating in the Old Town, around the Mermaid monument.
Dates: 29 November 2024 – 7 January 2025 Location: the traditional venue — the Main Market Square. Additional Christmas spots will also be set up at Salt Square and on Świdnicka and Oławska streets. Come and taste mulled wine served in a boot and take a selfie in front of the windmill. Important: the market will be closed on 24–25 December and 1 January.
Dates: 29 November 2024 – 1 January 2025 Location: Main Market Square. This is not only one of Poland's oldest markets but also one of its finest (according to European media). It's a must-visit to enjoy numerous events and traditions, sample classic Polish cuisine, and browse crafts from Poland and neighbouring countries alike.
Dates: opened 22 November 2024, closes on Christmas Eve — 23 December 2024 Location: Targ Węglowy, Bogusławskiego and Tkacka streets Said to be one of the most spectacular markets in Poland. The main stage near the Wybrzeże Theatre will host concerts and artistic performances. In the angelic corner by the Upland Gate, you can enjoy decorations and illuminations. And at the armoury of the Academy of Fine Arts on Tkacka Street, works by Academy students and local craftsmen will be on display.
Dates: 16 November 2024 – 6 January 2025 Locations: at EXPO Poznań (16.11–22.12) and at Freedom Square (16.11.24–6.01.25) The International Trade Fair EXPO Poznań is worth visiting for a ride on the Ferris wheel, which offers a panoramic view of the city. There will also be an ice rink and Santa's House.
Dates: 22 November – 5 January Location: Main Market Square (Rynek Główny) More than a hundred market stalls await you here. Obrońców Katowice Square is well worth a visit for its impressive light installations.
Dates: 29 November 2024 – 23 December 2024 Location: Piotrkowska Street, near Schiller Passage Concerts, carolling, and workshops will take place here, with the official Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Freedom Square scheduled for 30 November at 6:00 PM.
It's worth noting that in some cities the programme, dates, and locations are still being confirmed and will soon appear in local media and on municipal websites.
