Getting sick in a foreign country is never easy. But welcoming Poland is doing everything it can to support Ukrainians who arrived in the country after the start of the war. Through the Health4Ukraine program, developed by the humanitarian organization Direct Relief, you can receive funds to cover the cost of medication.

What Are the Requirements?

Ukrainians who arrived in Poland after the start of the full-scale war — that is, after February 24, 2022 — are eligible for support under the Health4Ukraine initiative. One of the mandatory conditions for participation is having a PESEL number (Polish personal identification number). Each Health4Ukraine participant will receive a unique code that can be used to purchase medications at Polish pharmacies for up to 500 PLN.

How to Register?

To register, you need to fill out an online form available at this link. Your individual code will be sent to the email address provided in the registration form. If you are under 18, the application must be submitted by a parent or legal guardian.

What Medications Can the Funds Be Used For?

Just like in Ukraine, Polish pharmacies sell both prescription and over-the-counter medications. The 500 PLN provided under the Health4Ukraine program is allocated as follows:

  • 350 PLN can be spent on prescription medications;
  • 150 PLN – on medications and products available without a prescription.

How Long Does the Health4Ukraine Program Last?

The program runs until December 31, 2022. However, if you receive your code and do not use it at a pharmacy within 45 days, the code will be deactivated. Any unused funds will be returned to the pool and redirected to other program participants. It is worth considering how urgent your need for medication is right now — or whether it makes more sense to apply for assistance at a later date.

Take care of yourselves and stay healthy!
