Working in Poland – A More Attractive Prospect Than Starting Your Own Business in Ukraine

Working in Poland is a more attractive prospect for Ukrainian labour migrants than starting their own business in Ukraine. Tomasz Bogdewicz, CEO of Gremi Personal, commented in a Deutsche Welle report on the Ukrainian government's initiative to provide financial support to labour migrants for opening their own businesses in Ukraine.

According to him, low-skilled workers in Poland can earn around €900 per month: "Any initiative that promotes business development is a good thing. But you have to pay attention to the nuances: will it actually cause labour migrants from Poland and other countries to return to Ukraine? I don't think so, because not everyone wants to become an entrepreneur. Secondly, people understand that the economic situation in Ukraine is unstable and the conditions for doing business are not transparent."
