Due to border closures during the pandemic, approximately 12% of Ukrainians working in Poland returned home. "There were two waves of departures. The first wave occurred around March 17, the second just before Ukraine closed its state borders on March 27. Many Ukrainians in Poland were misinformed and decided to leave the country because they believed the Ukrainian-Polish border was completely closed. In fact, it can still be crossed by car," says Tomasz Bogdewicz, CEO of Gremi Personal.
