Getting a Residence Permit: The End of Long Queues?

Long queues when obtaining documents remain one of the challenges Poland is still working to resolve. The shift to electronic document processing and moving certain procedures online is proving to be a great help.
It has recently come to light that Poland is preparing to put an end to queues for obtaining a residence permit.
A draft amendment to the Law on Foreigners is set to be submitted to the Polish Sejm in the near future.
The legislative changes will also affect Ukrainians residing in Poland who intend to obtain a residence permit.
What will change in the application process?
First of all, applications for a residence permit will only be accepted online, i.e. in electronic form.
The forms and attachments submitted together with the application will be able to be signed with a qualified electronic signature or a trusted profile signature.
Once you submit your application, you won't have to wonder whether it reached the voivode — you will receive an official confirmation by e-mail that your application has been received.
After submitting the application, seven or more days later (the exact processing time has not yet been announced), you will be invited to attend the office in person.
You will be required to:
- Present a Ukrainian foreign passport or another identity document.
2️. Provide fingerprints.
- Provide your signature.
If it turns out during your visit that some documents are missing, you will have an additional 14 days to submit them.
We hope that queues will become a thing of the past, and that Ukrainians will be able to obtain their residence permit easily and quickly.
