Ukrainian doctors and nurses have long been eager to work in Europe. For instance, in the Czech Republic in 2015 a pilot government programme called "Ukraine" was launched to attract qualified professionals and employ Ukrainian medical staff, notes Tomáš Bogdewič, General Director of Gremi Personal. He adds that Ukrainian doctors are also drawn to Slovakia, where salaries are higher — 1,500–3,500 euros — and employment procedures are simpler than in Poland.
