Negative Trend on the Labour Market. Mass Layoffs Begin in Poland Author: Gremi Personal

Poland is witnessing a clearly intensifying trend toward workforce reductions, as the labour market enters a phase of structural change. This is the subject of a new report based on data from the analytics centre of the international staffing company Gremi Personal.

Experts note that at the start of 2026, major businesses announced plans to lay off more than 9,000 employees — 50% more than in the same period last year. Overall indicators confirm the deteriorating situation: the unemployment rate rose to 6.1%, while the number of job vacancies fell by 67%. The sharpest drop in employment is recorded in manufacturing (automotive, furniture, and machinery sectors). At the same time, the market is becoming increasingly polarised: while some sectors are cutting headcount, logistics, HoReCa, and electronics are showing growth — largely driven by foreign labour.
