What Is "Profilaktyka 40 PLUS"?

The "Profilaktyka 40 PLUS" programme of the Polish Ministry of Health has been running since July 2021. The initiative was introduced to prevent the development of chronic diseases and increase the chances of their early detection. Screening under the programme can be done once a year. The implementation of this medical programme was originally planned only until 31 October 2024, but it is very likely that "Profilaktyka 40 plus" will be extended.

This medical programme provides free preventive check-ups for men and women who have reached the age of 40. Various test packages are available under the programme: ✔ for men, ✔ for women, ✔ a shared package.

The "Profilaktyka 40+" programme package includes the following tests: ✔ full blood count; ✔ blood test for cholesterol, creatinine, uric acid and glucose levels; ✔ liver function tests (AlAT, AspAT, GGTP); ✔ urinalysis; ✔ faecal occult blood test using the immunochemical method (iFOBT); ✔ PSA test for prostate cancer screening (for men).

The shared package includes: ✔ blood pressure measurement; ✔ assessment of body weight, height, waist circumference and calculation of BMI.

How to Take Part in the "Profilaktyka 40 PLUS" Programme?

Free check-ups under the "Profilaktyka 40 PLUS" medical programme are available to Ukrainians who: ✔ legally reside in Poland; ✔ have health insurance.

There are three ways to obtain a referral to participate in the "Profilaktyka 40 plus" medical programme: ✔ via the mojeIKP mobile app (the "Profilaktyka" section); ✔ through the IKP patient online account (the "Profilaktyka" – "Surveys" section); ✔ at a medical facility participating in the programme.

To receive a referral, you need to complete a questionnaire at a medical facility or using one of the online services.

Participants of the "Profilaktyka 40 plus" programme can independently choose the medical facility where they want to have their tests done, from among those that have joined the programme. All participating facilities can be found on this map.

What information needs to be provided when completing the programme questionnaire? People aged 40–64 provide information about: ✔ height, weight, waist circumference; ✔ diet, alcohol consumption, smoking and physical activity; ✔ risk of cardiovascular and oncological diseases.

Older individuals, aged 65 and above, answer questions about: ✔ blood pressure measurements in the past year; ✔ cholesterol and blood sugar tests in the past year; ✔ smoking; ✔ lifestyle (active/sedentary); ✔ thyroid and endocrine system conditions; ✔ changes in gastrointestinal function; ✔ overweight or urinary system conditions in close relatives.
