The "Minimum Wage" Effect and Layoffs: What Is Really Happening to Salaries in Poland

Average wage growth in Poland is slowing down, and the labour market is becoming increasingly segmented by sector. These findings come from an RBC Ukraine article based on data from the analytics centre of international recruitment company Gremi Personal.

Experts note that current wage statistics do not fully reflect reality. The rise in the average salary in the business sector to 9,135 zlotys is partly driven by the administrative increase in the minimum wage and a shift in the employment structure — specifically, the reduction of lower-paid workers. At the same time, the gap between industries is widening: companies are optimising their headcount by letting go of less-skilled staff, while continuing to compete intensely for key specialists, which is fuelling faster pay growth in certain sectors.
