The labour market crisis will create two main trends for employees and employers:

  1. A labour market in the employer's interest: when the economy is booming and growth is seen in almost every sector, the labour market becomes a hostage to employees' interests, but a crisis turns everything upside down. Production falls, jobs are cut and vacancies become scarcer. At the same time people's “financial safety cushion” shrinks, and the moment comes when it is the companies that start dictating terms to employees.
  2. The best employees can be found during a crisis: a crisis is a time when you can hire the best employees who would simply be unavailable in stable times. It is a time to attract the best workers away from imprudent competitors. It is also a time when you can hire more and cheaper workers to launch new production lines, which would not have been possible in a stable period.

Whether these trends are positive or negative will depend on how they are used.
