Farmers are looking for seasonal workers from the East. At the end of May the harvest season for strawberries, cherries, currants and raspberries begins in Poland. Entrepreneurs complain that half of their harvest will be wasted if foreigners do not return to seasonal work. Even though native workers who used to travel to Western European countries for years are staying in Poland because of the pandemic, this does not solve the problem of the labour shortage in agriculture. In addition, after the lifting of some government restrictions the HoReCa sector is struggling with staff shortages and urgently needs help. More in the article.
