There are more workers from Ukraine than in previous years, yet still too few to fill the vacancies on the labour market. Employment agencies bend over backwards to secure workers for their clients, but the market seems drained.

Although in the first half of 2021 more declarations on employing workers from the East were entered into labour office records than in 2019 (and of course 2020, which was not representative because of the pandemic), a record number of work permits were also issued, and there are 819,000 foreigners in the ZUS registers — 100,000 more than in January — yet hands to work are still lacking.
