Staffing Agencies: What You Need to Know About Unfair and Prohibited Practices

Unfair practices by some employment agencies can lead to serious financial and legal consequences for the companies that use their services as well. A Dziennik Gazeta Prawna article presents six schemes identified by the Gremi Personal Analytical Center, including a fictitious student status, late registrations with ZUS (Polish Social Insurance Institution), unofficial salary payments, incorrect tax settlements, and discrepancies between the job offer and the actual employment conditions.
Experts at the Gremi Personal Analytical Center point out that an exceptionally low price for agency services may signal a risk of worker turnover, inspections, and additional costs for the business. They also stress that an agency does not take over all the obligations of the user employer, particularly with regard to occupational health and safety (OHS) and working time records. Therefore, before starting cooperation, companies should carefully vet providers, settlement rules, and the division of responsibility.
