Gremi Personal Analytics Centre Study: 69% of Foreign Workers in Poland Have Encountered Opaque Pay Schemes at Employment Agencies
The Gremi Personal Analytics Centre conducted a sociological study among 600 foreign workers who are currently working or have previously worked in Poland through employment agencies. The results show that a high rate in a job advertisement still attracts attention, but is increasingly prompting candidates to proceed with caution rather than agree immediately.
69% of respondents had personally encountered at least one non-transparent practice in the way their rate was structured or their pay was calculated. The more agencies a worker had passed through, the more frequently they had come across such schemes - among those who had worked through five or more agencies, the figure reaches nearly 89%.
The study also reveals how the behaviour of experienced workers is changing: they are increasingly checking the agency, the contract, ZUS contributions and deductions before agreeing to a vacancy. For the market, this signals a gradual shift in the rules of competition - the winner is no longer the highest figure in the advertisement, but the agency's ability to explain what that figure actually consists of.
