Ukrainians Will Not Pay for Roaming in the EU from 2026: What This Means for Those Living and Working in Poland

23.png Starting January 1, 2026, a significant and welcome change awaits Ukrainians in EU countries. If you live, work, or travel in Poland, using mobile communication will become much easier — without additional roaming charges. Ukraine has become the first non-EU country permitted to operate under the "Roam Like at Home" principle. This means that Ukrainian SIM cards in Europe will essentially work the same way they do at home.

What will change for Ukrainians in Poland?

  • Calls to Ukraine and within Poland — no additional charges (within your plan's minutes).
  • SMS — at your regular Ukrainian domestic rates.
  • Mobile internet — no expensive roaming packages required (fair-use limits may apply).
  • Lower costs and more freedom to stay connected — you can call your family, use navigation, banking apps, or messengers without constantly worrying about your balance or "hidden" fees.

Why is this important?

For millions of Ukrainians in Poland, mobile communication is a daily necessity:

  • staying in touch with family in Ukraine;
  • communicating with employers;
  • accessing online services, documents, and digital government tools.

The new rules are another step toward the digital and economic integration of Ukraine with the European Union and represent real support for citizens abroad.

At Gremi Personal, we keep track of changes that make life easier for Ukrainians in Poland — both at work and beyond. Stay with us to keep up with the latest important news.
